Ingredients:

1 lb Minced Beef 2 tablespoon of fresh chopped ginger
2 Medium yellow onions thinly sliced ½ cup chopped cilantro
4 Roma tomatoes (peeled and halved)
1 Tbsp Ginger Garlic Paste 1 tsp of Garam Masala (opt)
1/2 cup  cooking oil ( I know it sounds like a lot but we will remove excess at end) 1 jalapeño chopped ( seeds and rind can be removed if you want to decrease level of hotness)
1 green bell pepper cut in ½ “ pieces ½ c water
Spices:
2” piece of cinnamon stick ½ tsp cumin seeds
1 Black Cardamom Pod ½ tsp crushed red pepper
1 tsp. Salt ¼ tsp turmeric
1 tsp red chilli powder 1 tsp coriander powder

Directions:

  1. Heat Oil in a large nonstick pan
  2. Add onions and stir frequently until softened on high heat
  3. Reduce heat to medium and add beef and ginger garlic paste
  4. After a couple of minutes add all spices, stir thoroughly and cover
  5. Cook covered until all water has evaporated
  6. Add Tomatoes and cover again until tomatoes soften
  7. Use back of spoon to crush any remaining tomatoes
  8. Stirring frequently, fry on high heat ensuring all water has evaporated and oil has separated
  9. At this point taste beef and add additional salt if necessary (If it seems too spicy then remove seeds and rinds of jalapeñobefore chopping)
  10. Add bell peppers and fry for 2 -3 minutes
  11. Reduce heat to medium-low, add water and return cover until peppers soften
  12.  Add Ginger and jalapeños , and cook uncovered until desired consistency is reached (see note)
  13. Reduce heat to lowest setting, add chopped cilantro and garam masala and cook covered for 5 minutes ( see note)
  14. Remove excess oil that has separated
  15. Serve Hot with bread or Rice.

Enjoy!!

Note:

  1. If I am serving this with Naan Bread then I like to keep it a little liquidy, while with rice I like to dry it up
  2. If it is as spicy as you would like then Garam Masala can be omitted or used just as a garnish while serving just for the distinct fragrance it has to offer
